Crispy Ambulance
'The Presence' from 'Live on a Hot August Night'
The third single, produced by Martin Hannett.
The band Crispy Ambulance were formed in Manchester (UK) in 1978 by Alan Hempsall (vocals), Keith Darbyshire (bass), Gary Madeley (drums) and Robert Davenport (guitar).

A Factory roll.
Durutti Column (listen/view)
also; do a search(in the upper left corner) and the archives have beautiful live versions of 'Jacqueline' (Live 1988) and 'Without Mercy'.
The Durutti Column featuring Vini Reilly, a classically-trained pianist and virtuoso guitarist, took their name from Spanish revolutionary Buenaventura Durruti and the cartoon of Two Situationist Cowboys in the comic Le Retour De La Colonne Durutti (1966). Centred around Reilly, the then five-piece band recorded two tracks for FAC-2 A Factory Sample, the first ever music release on Factory Records. Vini, not happy with the band or the punk-styled recording, then walked out because it was "complete and total rubbish". Alan and Tony persuaded Vini to return, saying "you are The Durutti Column" and the rest is history.

The 1st cd I bought was a Durutti Column box set that turns out to be pretty rare.
It's basically the 1st four LP's of the band and every disc could be on 'auto repeat'
and I'd be happy.
They may seem overly melancholy at times but listen close to the 'Chet Atkins' style of Riley's guitar weaving rhythmically through delays and you are hypnotized in a
rainy day womb.
I saw them live somewhere in the '80's at the Roxy and I highly reccomend this if they do tour again.
Read the history. good story.
Cocorosie Live in Caen 2008
I must say the versions with Antony's voice are more chilling but this whole performance is the best i found.
Also, This Antony track "Fistful of Love" from the LP 'I am a Bird Now' is great with a Lou Reed appearance and a special arrangement.

Boards come in... boards go out.... this one will be staying.
Pic from JP Surfy Surfy.
I must say that this board's shape, color and fins came out exactly how I expected.
I sure hope I have the gusto to give it justice?
Bless you amigos!
Kenny Harbaugh 1960-2007— great father, husband, family member, and friend of many in our community —passed away on December 13 while in British Columbia on a company trip with a team of his Patagonia coworkers. Those whose lives he touched are now left to grapple with life without a guy who simply made the world a better place.

A good friend of mine.
It was not until yesterday that I received an email from his wife Heather who was going through his things and came across my many messages wondering why he was not returning them.
It was not strange to have long gaps in communication but this was very weird.
I'd felt something was wrong but I never had the home phone number.
He was a guy you just never thought would be gone.
I've missed you buddy and will forever.
He loved good music.

I think of art, at its most significant, as a DEW line, a Distant Early Warning system that can always be relied on to tell the old culture what is beginning to happen to it.

Midnight on Mars...Ash Ra Tempel
The 1970 founding member was Manuel Göttsching (guitar); with Harmut Enke (bass) and Klaus Schulze (ex-Tangerine Dream) (drums), after purchasing Pink Floyd's sound equipment in London.
The idea was to combine blues influenced improvisations and new sounds with traditional instruments: guitar, bass and drums.
The debut album Ash Ra Tempel was released in 1971, recorded in Hamburg by famed Connie Plank. Klaus Schulze left the band to pursue a solo career.

Husbands
So many great films and performances by John Cassavetes with Gena Rowlands, Peter Falk, Ben Gazarra and Seymour Cassel etc, that I won't even attempt to summarize.
I'll leave that to this comprehensive page at http://www.johncassavetes.net/ (many trailers and plot summaries)
He and his collaborators were the real deal and make "The Rat Pack" seem like sissys. Serious about art in film and deep character studies, kept the majority from seeing his work at the time, yet now we're lucky enough to see them all.
Husbands and A woman under the influence are two of my many favorites.(also see"Faces") Keep on the look out as revival theaters will sometimes do Cassavetes marathons. A great way to spend a rainy day.
(Gena Rowlands' performance in "woman..." is off the map. "phffftttp")
A woman under the influence
