Bound To Happen has an unassuming cover. There’s Bell with a fur cap and coat smoking a pipe. Don’t let that picture fool you though. Booker T. worked with Bell to create a sweet Soul album beginning with I Forgot To Be Your Lover. The tune has some great arranging with the guitar intro, strings, and Bell’s powerful singing. This is a song that you can just listen to again and again and never tire of. Western Union Man is mid tempo Southern Soul. During other moments however, things don’t work out as well such as on a cover of Everyday People. It’s not bad, but not inspiring either. Really though, it’s ALL about I Forgot To Be Your Lover.
