claycraft

Claycraft Potteries, Los Angeles, CA  1921-1939
This is a superb, crisply molded 4″ x 8″ art tile in a mellow, matte finish. It pictures a southwestern Pueblo Indian style adobe complete with log ladder, viga tails, and scattered pots set against a tranquil, desert landscape. The use of a muted glaze palette compliments the nostalgic and iconic imagery. The tile is housed in a beautiful, contemporary, Arts and Crafts style oak frame from Mitchell Andrus. This noted craftsman earned the highly esteemed status of Roycroft Renaissance Artisan. This juried designation is conferred by the Roycrofters community to only a select few artisans each year. The pairing of superlative Golden Era and present-day craftsmanship makes this piece a real treasure.
