GROOVE MOVE
Take a trip with filmmaker Jack Coleman through stills from his new movie
“This is Ari Browne, my new favorite surfer. He’s on a Rabbit’s Foot finless shape at Lennox Head in Australia. Ari is as underground as it gets, but not for long, people will soon see. This day he was flying around the point doing things I have never seen before. It was shot in May 2013, and is part of the final section for Groove Move. This is a frame grab from a Super 8 roll of film shot on 100d Ektachrome film. His approach is very much channeling the great George Greenough, which is just fine with me.” Photo: Coleman

“Alex Knost shot in February 2014 across the inside section at Steamer Lane. Al is riding a Campbell Brothers bonzer from the mid ‘70s and was connecting the whole point, just blowing spectators’ minds. Mostly the older guys. I heard them asking one another, “Is that guy on a bonzer? Damn, that was a good ride!” This is a Super 8 screen grab that was shot about an hour before sunset.”
