if it need be explained to you that people who have a different or 'weird' style in surfing are a good thing, then this makes me sad.
just remember, this is self expression and an art, at the core. to some, sure it maybe "action sports", but not all. the people who believe that surfing is the latter, they are shrinking. so, get on board with EVERYBODY NOW, join the 'revolt on conformity!'
we will all get together and start a club! or.... a religion...... or.......???????
We will all be individuals TOGETHER!!!!!

That said. Alex Knost is an amazing surfer with great style and Quirks.
And also, one of the nicest kids out there amongst this hell we call surfing.
Seems there is a wave of young and smart ones in the midst of this 'new school' of rippers/ self shapers.
Can not name 'em all but Alex and Burch are just 2.
