Henry Flynt- You Are My Everlovin’ / Celestial Power

Flynt fans say this is his finest LP. You Are My Everlovin’ / Celestial Power is a force of nature. A fucking force of nature, even. It is hard to even begin describing Henry Flynt’s music; it's utterly unique, influential, mind-blowing. So I will refrain from plagiarizing other people’s work like I usually do and let Henry tell you himself of "Meaning of My Avant-Garde Hillbilly and Blues Music". Side A - You Are My Everlovin' (42:38) Side B - Celestial Powers (45:12) These live recordings contain an intense energy made possible by Henry Flynt's enormous talent on the violin. Audible too is his love of hillbilly music and the blues. On the first track Flynt's carefully considered discord is fleshed out by an extended drone which I presume is heavily influenced by the Indian raga. The second, abandoning the lulling vedic tones, is a livelier effort with a gentle rhythm. This is avant-garde/drone at its finest. It is a pity he diverted much of his time into philosophy (like continental philosophy, it is just not very good) ...
