There's A Whole Lalo Schifrin Goin' On/ Dirty Harry
The original Dirty Harry score by Lalo. It's 1971 and with hipster-musicians and such, the LP's "Bitches Brew" and "Axis, Bold As Love" are snuggling friendly in their collections. Even though a mainstream Hollywood composer, Lalo Schifrin is a freak putting out psychedelic solo Lp's with cover art showing syringes stabbing mushrooms and all the while scoring major pictures for the man.
as for Harry;
The thing to me about the whole Harry, Lalo and San Francisco landscape is the starring
of the Fender Rhodes Electric piano.(it was pretty much a 70's staple) Also having a large role on "Bitches", here it's a lonely and melancholy mood by the instrument that absolutely nails it on screen. The moment when Schifrin 1st laid this on director Don Siegel, must have been something.
Highlight; post wasting Scorpio's psycho ass , Harry hucks his badge in the lake and yes the Rhodes tells us of the Baddest Good Guy who just doesn't fit in this world. (again)

Another classic by Lalo Schifrin that is not available on CD. This is an eclectic mix of music that feels like a score to a non-existent 1960s comedy thriller. There is even a track that smacks of the work Schifrin would do 4 years later on "Enter The Dragon". The music is great fun in a groovy-jazzy-hippy sort of way and I have come, over time, to really love this album. So here is the crispest version I can manage so enjoy!
Rear Cover Notes by a musing Lalo
The binding power of words, concepts, and sounds must be severed...humor is sanity, a release of interior tension with a sudden vision of the fun of things...the wind blows and collects dry leaves together. When one looks at it, one can not see it. When one listens to it, one cannot hear it. This is happiness, moonlight, a quiet stream, and a sense of now...a castle wall made of stones piled up without mortar emphasizes its curvature...as the distant constellations, when we gaze at them, have their own stars, so overall image will create within it separate, smaller patterns of its own...the rain falls outside the musicians play inside and the stage revolves...
