Only a Fool Would Ignore.... MEGAPOST MAGNIFICO
After his stunning debut, NATURALLY, in 1971, J.J. Cale returned the next year with this follow-up. REALLY is every bit as impressive as its predecessor, and occasionally swings so slowly that its grooves barely hang together. But to call J.J. Cale simply laid back is to miss the point--the breadth and variety in Cale's world is mysterious, riveting and soulful.
Cale's sophomore album from 1971 was a logical successor to his outstanding debut. Cale's laid back style was widely appreciated, as evidenced by the radio success of "Lies". This album was recorded in Nashville and at the famed Muscle Shoals Studios in Alabama. Backing musicians include Roger Hawkins, Barry Beckett, David Hood, Charlie McCoy, Norbert Putnam (who would later produce Dan Fogelberg), Vasser Clements and more.

GET
my 2 cents; the first 3 Cale Lp's are simply a must have for anyone who is a fan of music PERIOD.
a tasteful blend of laid back soul and blues executed by the best players with one of the best writer and performer EVER.
on Really, you have a much more produced effort in no doubt trying for a hit even though his songs went on to chart without his performing (Call me the Breeze, After Midnight, Cocaine,) and his style STOLEN from Clapton.
i will soon be posting the other 2 of my picks that are recorded in a much more relaxed atmosphere than Really.
not bagging on Really, because it rocks complete ,but listening to the recordings done live on Cale's porch from Okie and Naturally just take you as far into Cale's world as possible.
for newbees? if there was a starter LP for you any of the 3 1st studio lp's will do, do DL this one.
