Stormbringer

Stormbringer! is the title of a 1970 album released by John and Beverley Martyn. Originally planned to be a solo album by Beverley Martyn (with help from her husband John) it was effectively taken over by John and released under both names. John wrote 7 of the 10 songs on the album with Beverley credited for the remaining 3. Martyn was influenced by The Band, whose Levon Helm plays drums. The album was recorded under the direction of Paul Harris in Woodstock, where Joe Boyd had rented John and Beverley a house. Personnel * John Martyn - vocals, acoustic guitar, guitar * Beverley Martyn - vocals, acoustic guitar * Harvey Brooks - bass * Paul Harris - piano, organ, musical direction, arrangements * John Simon - harpsichord on "Tomorrow Time" * Levon Helm - drums * Herbie Lovell - drums * Billy Mundi - drums I'd been waiting for this on CD for a while and turns out i was just wrong with my info. My audiofile friend Wayne Griggs(The Record Vacuum / EBN Network) used to rock "Sweet Honesty" as house music for a tour we were on with Verve (not "The") in '93-'94. An amazing DJ now with his new site filled with great lost music...now found. I had the one song but now the full disc. 4 stars...(if ya like folk blues) Listen here. Best track..."Sweet Honesty" with Levon layin' it down solid as usual.
