She Hit Me (and it felt like a kiss)

1st of all...one of the best sounding clips i've heard. (nothing better than a nice sounding room, some ambient mics and some live talent chock full'o soul) Carole King It's too late -Live Much more should be said about her than i can post, but here's a brief try. In the beginning; Gerry Goffin and King formed a songwriting partnership working for Aldon Music in the Brill Building, where chart-topping hits were churned out during the 1960s, the Goffin-King partnership first hit it big with "Will You Love Me Tomorrow". Recorded by The Shirelles, the song topped the charts in 1961. You would'nt believe how many hit songs a young Carol wrote for others to sing and perform. (a wiki list that will blow yer mind) Moving to the West Coast, Larkey, King and Danny Kortchmar(The Fugs) formed a group called The City(an amazing LP i highly reccomnend), which released one album, Now That Everything's Been Said, but the album was a commercial failure.(highlight track "I Wasn't Born To Follow")listen here... Then in 1971 came Tapestry(("It's Too Late","You've Got a Friend") which was an instant success and soon recognized as one of the landmark albums of the singer-songwriter genre of the early 1970s. With numerous hit singles, Tapestry would remain on the charts for nearly six years and sell over 10 million copies in the United States and an estimated 22 million world-wide. Note; This rapid post does not do the Lady justice and i apologize to her greatly! Listen to; "He Hit me(and it felt like a kiss) 1962 kind of a disturbing song...but great none the less!
