Wheels
A close up of one of my favorite kits.
All connected and on wheels sans throne.
Concept from the 1920's when traps were wheeled out for separate acts.
This one in particular was a gift from Soupy Sales to his son Hunt, who later pawned it
during hard times. Hunt and Tony Sales were a legendary rhythm section used through out the 70's most notably on Iggy's 'Lust For Life'('77).Also the drummer for Todd Rundgren's Utopia and assists on
Todd's classic solo lp "Something Anything".
The kit's a "Hollywood" brand.(made in ????....Italy?)
Edit;
As cheaply made as it was, the kit sounds great recorded as every drum does not touch the ground. This gives especially the 18" kick drum it's full spectrum of tone.(when not muffled) This became a nightmare for club engineers without compressors. Not the ideal typical rock drum carrying a long and super deep tone. I was usually forced to mute it as our influence did'nt carry alot a weight with the local Alabama 'engineer.'
