Strafe - set it off "Set If Off on the right boy, set it off on the left boy - set it off" - wow this is one of the most memorable tunes from back in the day. Dropped in 1984 right at the time when everything was alien and fresh where the ashes of disco's were still floating in the air and the idea of house music was in it's infancy this track blew in everywhere. From the unmistakable shuffle beat flow to the gospelized/garage tinged vocals there has just got to be space in your collection for this 12" brought to you from mixmaster genius' Walter Gibbons. I remember having my mind blown by this track as well. Perhaps the definitive version of 'Set It Off' was Strafe's, with its mesmerizing vocal hook woven into a spare but hauntingly atmospheric rhythm bed.
