Shirley Bassey "Yesterday When I Was Young" Personally, I love many of these 60's crooners and not in some kitsch trendy thing either. Especially Shirley(many Bond films) and together with Michael Legrand.(Thomas Crown Affair +) I suppose one could try to equate her dynamics to the irritating Whitney Houston and her influence on every black and white "soul" overload performance to this day. No matter how crap the song, no matter where in the song, these upper register seekers will pump it up in the modulation and go for thee highest near-note and all to the pleasure of the wonderbread TV audience. Sorry does not compute. Shirley's still got the soul as mabe Whitney did at one time. I've also got a little romance with her as my folks were fans as well. Note: Recently my amigos at Transafixion offered me a weekly guest posting on their "Sunday Morning Selections!" This is an honor for me and I hope I don't step outa line and get axed! Their site is done with a hell of a lot of knowledge on all fronts. I hope I can at least add something new to it. Ck it!!!!
