"Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues"

The Thumb! 6'2 x 21' x 3

THUMBS UP!

A shortboard single fin made for noseriding. (and does it well)
And now goes vertical in lowtide mini drainers.
These boards got a cool history.
I dunno how many were made when Peter St Pierre did 'em under the 'Sunset' label, but it was'nt many.
I'm pretty sure it started out as a silly experiment, although JP can correct me?
That is if he still goes bloggin' post joining the 'real' internet family!
(he hee.)

Edit!
THanks to Peter for filling in the blanks!!!!
"The Thumb was just a goof inspired by Donald Takayama's scorpian board I used to borrow off him , Fish boards I was ridding at the time and Mike Willis's bump tail boards. Mike and I shaped it one afternoon I remember I couldn't find a nose temp that worked the way i wanted so I grabbed a metal wastebasket and bent it until it blended in with the rail . Its a pretty fun board and we actually made quite a few of them that summer 197?? something. It sat in my garage for years I'd pull it out now and then and ride it. Rob Machado was always tripping on it. So I handed it to him told him to let me know what he thought. He was stoked so we took it to KKL to be scanned and made him one. He rips on it but he's Rob. We have made a few 5 fin bonzer versions that go pretty good too. The Thumb is just a Butt Ugly board made on a whim that will make you laugh when you ride it. What more can you ask for."
