"Hanging Around"

The Stranglers performing Hanging Around at the 1978 Festival they organised at Battersea Park. The Stranglers-"Hanging Around" From their ist LP 'Rattus Norvegicus' in '77 Original personnel were drummer Jet Black , bass player/vocalist Jean Jacques Burnel, guitarist/vocalist Hugh Cornwell and keyboardist/guitarist Hans Warmling. Hans would be replaced by keyboardist Dave Greenfield within a year. Mr. Cornwell was in art school with buddy Richard Thompson, with many bands of his own, but to me his guitar noodles on the Nick Drake recordings was his best work.(as he was in demand as a session musician) My pick for Stranglers best LP would have to be the Vinyl release of "Black and White" in '78. Like the special Lp's in those days you'd get a prize inside most of the time. Be it a poster or an additional 7" 45rpm of unreleased tracks. In this case both LP and 7" were on black and white vinyl and the 45 included "Walk on By", Mean To Me" and "Tits"! ROCK BABYS! Note; One of the best bass sounds in rock! Mabe 2nd to Lemmy. Oh the grind of the SVT and the Rickenbocker!!!!
