Nina Simone -"For All We Know" - 1961 I'm so very sad I never got to see her live. One of the greatest improvisers in music, she had a knack for playing and re-arranging some very popular songs and making them fresh and knew. (And in many cases making them just better) When artists cover well known songs, they're usually just banking on the post recognition of the track and the new version just never stands up! Not Nina! The "High Priestess of Soul" Always fresh and interesting and...beautiful. I had one chance to see her at the Wiltern years ago and I flaked. Regrets!!! There is a wealth of stuff on Youtube and some great ones yet this just nails the mood for now. Enjoy!
