5 years ago I picked up surfing again after a 15 year hiatus due to my carrer and a general foul taste for the direction of the 'art'.
This has been a savior for me as my gills had been dry for too long.
(The fact that the Bonzer was my choice for surf craft for my reserection has been a blessing)
While reinventing myself with surf I felt the same with skate.
My goal was to ignore the current state of things and go pure surf/skate style with mostly carving and such, so I got a 36" Bulldog (Wes Humpston) with some softer wheels.
After pushing too hard in these new parks, of course injuries followed.
Shelved it. I believe that the proper parks just needed some time and the time has begun. Snakeruns, drainpipes and resevoirs are a must as well as old school pools with real coping.
Lake Forest in Irvine is thee spot for this area but any suggestions will be appretiated!
Forward to today:

2007
My buddy is on the same page and has been doing R&D on some different designs from the period in Question. He knows his shit!
Personally, I was more of the Zepher/Z-Flex design or flex carving, while he has been workin' in the 'Logan Earth Ski' design of no flex and hard oak with complete
sets of half tracks and Road Runners!
He's a master of the history and also the craftsmenship. (as you can see)
Planning on heading down for a test run this week, yet the main thing is to keep the concept in mind while skating.(remember why we're there)
We'll see how it goes....
I'm game for givin' the new skis a go, yet my romance with the flexes could be the next step for me.(unless bones are broken!)
