"No More Heroes"
The Stranglers - lIve at the Hope 'n Anchor Nov. '77
"No More Heroes" & "Something Better Change"
Much of the Stranglers' sound depends on hearing Jean-Jacques Burnel's bad ass bass growling and driving every song. I feel lucky too have found a live clip that translates pretty good.
FYI.
Hugh Cornwell was friends in the late 60's with Richard Thompson (Fairport Convention and much studio work including Nick Drake) and later obtained a degree in biochemistry
and then his post doctorite work. Soon after, he formed The Stranglers with Jet Black, Hans Warmling and Jean Jacques Burnel.
The band was officially formed in '74/'75 but eventually got their big United Artists record deal in '77.
My favorites: "Rattus Norvegicus"(1stLP 1977), Black and White(3rd LP 1978), "La Folie"
(6th LP 1981 contains "Golden Brown"), and "Feline" (1983 with "Midnight's Summer Dream" and "Paradise")
