"The Revolution Starts Now"

"One Nation Under a Groove"

Stax studio A
Booker T & The MG'S
Al Jackson jr If you could pick one drummer that was the favorite by the greats of today (Jim Keltner etc.) that man would be Al Jackson. He created the soul and finesse to more grooves than most will ever know. Until his wife shot and killed him.

The son of orchestra leader Al Jackson, Sr., Jackson was born Memphis, Tennessee, and began playing on stage with his father's band from a young age. He graduated to playing in Willie Mitchell's band, where he met Booker T. Jones who had also been hired by Mitchell. The two would hit it off and eventually form Booker T. & the MGs, with Lewie Steinberg and Steve Cropper.

Signed to Stax Records, Booker T. & the MGs were regarded as one of the best backing bands in music, releasing a number of hits. Additionally, Jackson continued to work with Mitchell, who was signed to Hi Records, where he played on songs like Al Green's Let's Stay Together, as well as co-writing songs with Green.

"No Pussy Footing"

I believe his days of open mindness are long gone. Of course he will allways be resistant to the bonzer because of some historical ego clashing. (even with occasional side stepping niceties in the press)
I'm tired of all this pussyfooting. Sure, ride what you wan't, I don't care! But when a comment like that hits me , I must be "Speakin' Out" Just my opinion. Fun is had on many designs and that's great. Lets not talk about failure just because the concervative surfers are complacent. How bout the fish explosion and modernization? Speed Dialers? He also said twins had there day. "scoff" Of course he's into the competition circut which could use an overhaul as well. Used to be you could ride what you wanted for the conditions. (ex: Simon and his Bells Breakthrough) by todays standards he would have been cheating! his success there proved his design! So....That does'nt apply today? my god.....incestuous Free your mind and your ass will follow, sir! by warmjet (come and get me, sods without pods)
This revolution, "The Bonzer Experience", is about evolution: evolving ones thoughts, experiences and consciousness. It's about dynamic changes that produce quantum shifts in understanding and performance. J.G. Bennett, describing Gurdjieff's concept of evolution, states, "Evolution is the production of high level energy from a lower level source. This requires an apparatus of a different kind; for the "upgrading" of energy is improbable and cannot occur at all unless some high level energy is present. Life is an evolutionary process that goes against the direction of probability. The work by which Mankind is transformed is evolutionary." This quote sums up in a nutshell, more than 30 years of some pretty intense work. In 1970 the 3 fin Bonzer represented a quantum leap in possibilities, and in late 1982 the 5 fin Bonzer presented another tremendous shift in design and performance potential. Maybe it was pure naiveté or a misguided sense of mission, but whatever it was, ever since the first wave we rode on a Bonzer we have felt an obligation to continue refining the design in order to keep possibilities open. We have wanted to give something back to surfing, which has so greatly enriched our lives. So against all probability, and to the joy of many and irritation of some, the Bonzer stands here today as a symbol of the open-ended nature of evolutionary potential and performance capabilities. " River Runs Deep"

Plans to work on the LA river will have a great effect on the bars and water. It will also be our Mayor's 1st big test of competance. We're lucky to have Boxer on board as well. I'm hoping, if done correctly (hmm?), the river will be bustling and eventually give us sandbars in constant flux and possibly some of that cool mountain water will actually put a dent in all the pollution we call a "river". http://boxer.senate.gov/news/releases/record.cfm?id=254823 photos 1 & 2: Junor

"White Light White Heat"

WarIs Not Inevitable !
Maslow's hierarchy of conative needs has physiological needs at the bottom and self-actualization at the top. "People who have reached self-actualization will sometimes experience a state he referred to as "transcendence," in which they become aware of not only their own fullest potential, but the fullest potential of human beings at large." i suppose until they get there a lot of people don't realize that peace is a concious choice. I guess those at the bottom feel war is inevitable because their basic needs are not met and they see war as a means to an end. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maslow

"Life On Mars"

Photo: Naki A couple of years ago a friend of mine up and disapeared. Being an accomplished surf photographer, I figured he was off on another adventure capturing mysto magic and being paid to do so. It turns out he packed up and moved to an outer Hawaian island and this is one of his local spots. He said I should come and visit because he surfs alone too much. I dunno?
