In the past, major coastal constructions were for a single purpose, such as port protection and erosion prevention. The program sought ways to improve the environmental value of these by incorporating surfing, diving, fishing, biological enhancement, aesthetic values as well as swimming and boating safety. After 8 years of research into the enhancement of surfing waves, the expertise to design world-class surfing breaks is now available.
4th October 2006 and the Mount Reef kicks off just after the second half, the right hander is 85% complete. A small 1.5 meter ground swell started to produce consistent hollow barrels. Once the right hander has been completed (3 days of pumping still required) and the focus is working rides should clean up and extend over 50 metres each way. http://www.mountreef.co.nz/
NOTE:The responsible parties for the exploitation and overpopulation of surfing should be held accountable for what they've done. Instead of sponsoring spoiled 15 year olds to go on plush Indo trips or opening a mall where Kammies market
once was, they MUST complete one of these or an A.R. like it with stipulations in proportion to the damage they have done and still do!
For sure there is plenty of non toxic matter available (old ships/cars/whatever) that could serve a much better service to the planet and provide an "exit strategy" for this 'War on Surfing' they've created. http://www.mountreef.co.nz/
