"Sleeping Star"

Epic was born Kevin Paul Godfrey, in Croydon, England, on March 23, 1959. Mother, Lois, and father, Trevor, bore Kevin one brother, Nicholas. Though music was always floating round the family house, the brothers' upbringing wasn't particularly musical (despite Trevor's being a fine pianist). It seems, music went out of it's way to find them. The year 1972 proved the catalyst for the brothers Godfrey: Kevin, soon to be known as Epic Soundtracks, introduced his brother (now Nikki Sudden) to the music he'd just recently discovered and loved. The pair nearly immediately formed the first of many 'bands' which eventually evolved into the landmark Swell Maps.
The first Maps single, "Read About Seymour", was released in September 1977. This song, as did all their other Swell Maps releases, featured Epic on drums and piano. All of these releases also managed to reach the top position in the English underground charts. When Swell Maps broke up in March 1980, Epic was quick to make his first excursion as a solo artist, releasing a single. He then teamed up with fellow ex-Mapper, Jowe Head, to work on a joint album (although the sessions resulted in only one single release). He also played intermittently with his brother, Nikki, in the latter's recently-formed Jacobites. Epic was then asked to join Crime And The City Solution, a band comprised mainly of ex-Birthday Party members. This also launched Epic on a series of collaborations with guitarist Rowland Howard, a relationship which would continue for the next decade. After Crime, Rowland and Epic created a new band, These Immortal Souls. At first, Epic was happy enough contributing drums and occasional piano to the band, but soon tired of his 'contributor' role, and began to further realise and write his own, very personal, music. He began recording his first solo album in earnest.

"Everybodys Talkin"

This is the Lp to get by Fred Neil The stand out is "The Dolphins" and of course"Everybodys Talkin". (Allthough the Nillson version on Midnight Cowboy is where the song was meant to be)

Fred Neil

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, Neil was one of the songwriters who for a time worked out of New York City's famous Brill Building. He has often been called a pioneer of the singer-songwriter musical genre; his most frequently cited disciples are Tim Buckley, Harry Nilsson, and the Jefferson Airplane, but his most prominent descendants have been James Taylor, Paul Simon and Joni Mitchell. His early compositions were recorded by the likes of Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison; he played as a session guitarist on hits by Bobby Darin and Paul Anka. In 1968, Nilsson recorded a cover version of Neil's song "Everybody's Talkin'," which became a huge hit a year later when it was featured in the film Midnight Cowboy.

An Inconvenient Truth - Trailer

NOW PLAYING IN THEATERS "A MUST SEE"

I want to write this review so every reader will begin it and finish it. I am a liberal, but I do not intend this as a review reflecting any kind of politics. It reflects the truth as I understand it, and it represents, I believe, agreement among the world's experts. Global warming is real. It is caused by human activity. Mankind and its governments must begin immediate action to halt and reverse it. If we do nothing, in about 10 years the planet may reach a "tipping point" and begin a slide toward destruction of our civilization and most of the other species on this planet.

After that point is reached, it would be too late for any action. More

"The Singer"

Nancy Sinatra. & Lee Hazlewood. - "Some Velvet Morning"

What are Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Scott Walker, Lee Hazlewood, Serge Gainsbourg, and Leonard Cohen talking about?

"The Love Song must be born into the realm of the irrational, the absurd, the distracted, the melancholic, the obsessive, the insane, for the Love Song is the noise of love itself and love is, of course, a form of madness. Whether it be the love of God, or romantic, erotic love – these are manifestations of our need to be torn away from the rational, to take leave of our senses, so to speak. Love Songs come in many guises and are seemingly written for many reasons – as declarations or to wound – I have written songs for all of these reasons – but ultimately the Love Songs exist to fill, with language, the silence between ourselves and God, to decrease the distance between the temporal and the divine." by Nick Cave.

Pussy #3 "Pussy Galore"

Pussy Galore was an American noise rock band that formed in Washington D.C. during 1985. They had a constantly fluid line-up until their demise in 1990.

History

The band's earliest incarnation consisted of guitarist and vocalist Jon Spencer, guitarist Julie Cafritz and drummer John Hamill though this line-up would be subject to both change and expansion in later years. Following the self released 7" Feel Good About Your Body, they added guitarist Neil Hagerty, and replaced Hamill with former Sonic Youth drummer Bob Bert after the band moved to New York City. They further expanded the line-up by taking on then 16 year old Cristina Martinez as a guitarist though she was not really a musician, she had simply taken the photograph for the 7", and recorded the EP Groovy Hate Fuck. The EP, like all of their early releases, would be self-released on their own Shove Records label.

Just prior to the EP's release, they publicly vented their hatred for Dischord Records boss Ian MacKaye and made themselves even more unpopular amongst Washington D.C.'s hardcore punk scene. They subsequently left for New York where they released a limited-edition cassette-only cover album of the Rolling Stones' Exile on Main Street. They followed this up in January 1987 with another self-released mini-set Pussy Gold 5000. Shortly after this Martinez left the band and formed Boss Hog a few years later
